Once again we had a great Relay Go-karting Day at the Daytona Outdoor Karting Centre at Milton Keynes – every bit as good as last year!
With the weather set fair on Saturday 4th October, nothing stood in the way for the 60 guys and girls that work for us from enjoying the fun and each other’s company. They came by plane from our Scottish depot at Coatbridge and by coach from Warrington, meeting up with the team at Iver to travel together for a competitive and thoroughly pleasurable day out.
After a 20 minute practice run it was time for the thrilling 2-hour endurance race for randomly selected teams of four, which meant people had to operate well together under pressure – all in a day’s work at Relay! This was followed by a chance for individual drivers to shine, with the top 20 drivers posting the fastest time in the practice run taking part in the Relay Karting Championship sprint race.
And now for the results of the “Relay Karting Championship 2014”
1st Place - Richard Barnes (who came second last year)
2nd Place – Liam Webb (who won last year)
3rd Place – Juan Carlos Lorenzo
(Fastest lap time Sean Maryon)
2-hour Team Endurance
1st Place – Ashley Pearce / Phillip Pym / Tony Metcalf / Joe Weston
2nd Place – Sean Maryon / James Marshall / Pete Surety / Liam Harper
3rd Place – Dan Rangecroft / Hugh Reid / Ste Foster / Paul Balmer
James Marshall from Relay Iver said that the event organisers Hugh Reid and Dan Rangecroft had struck on an ideal formula for a great day’s entertainment.
“It’s been great to chase each other at high speed round Daytona’s terrific circuit in exciting high-performance karts and we had plenty to talk about when we met up for a few drinks afterwards!”
