Relay makes the maximum use of the best available technology for keeping track of our customers’ goods in transit at all times. Relay completes over 500 deliveries and collections every day and we have two
main methods of audit tracking installed for all our vehicles.
Our crews are supplied with electronic handheld PDAs, which are superb practical diagnostic tools. The PDAs are used for POD signature capture and non-conformance reporting. This can be viewed instantly via the Relay website. In addition, the PDAs provide TomTom navigation for all vehicles, cameras for relaying site information to customers and other facilities.
Relay’s systems support our logistics planners in keeping schedules running smoothly. Our customers can also view where their assets are at any time of the day or night through our web interface. The status of individual vehicles en route, whether moving, parked or broken down, is shown in a range of formats from aerial roadmap view to a real-time 3D bird’s eye image of the vehicle and its surrounding urban or open road environment. The GPRS enabled in-cab systems will notify base of a shipment’s position at every five minutes during its journey.
In a two-way process, information such as breakdowns or route changes can be relayed back by the driver to the planning office, while new manifests and amendments to schedule to can be transmitted from base to fleet units. A calendar of all Relay shipments carried out day-by-day is available to planners. A staged series of shipments, with vehicles handling two or more collections and deliveries over a given route, is also easy for logistics managers to follow.
Every stop is pulled out to make sure that each job runs smoothly, efficiently and that the valuable commodities are handled in conditions of maximum security.
