Putting deliveries on the map Minimize

Relay has invested heavily in IT and leading-edge logistics technology to ensure that the maximum level of control is available for handling the high value equipment entrusted to us. The course of every delivery can now be accurately plotted at each stage from departure to the time when the recipient’s signature at the final destination is recorded on our state-of-the-art PDAs.

Different levels of monitoring can meet varying customer requirements. On a basic level, GPS satellite tracking will pinpoint a vehicle on a detailed road map, providing the customer with an accurate positioning at any given time. For some deliveries this is enough, but other more complex or sensitive operations may require the support of more detailed information.

This is where enhanced tracking comes in. Locating the vehicles is only the start. Colour coding the units shows whether a job is to be done (red) is in progress (purple) or has been completed (green). If a vehicle is scheduled for a series of deliveries during a day, it will also identify which particular assignment it is currently carrying out. Plans can be made accordingly by fleet control – for instance, when to send out an engineer to assist with installation, enabling planners to avoid costly downtime.

Enhanced mapping and logistics is expanding horizons for those controlling delivery operations.Tracking Screen Shot Vehicle positioning can be presented in a range of visual formats, from bird’s eye view to 3D imagery. Information can be gained on whether a delivery team is held up in traffic or if there are access problems at destination.

Time and costs are now continually being saved by the efficient use of resources. Logistics technology is building on our capability to offer the very best service to our customers.
