Logistics Successes For Kyocera Minimize

Major deliveries of multi-functional photocopiers and other equipment from our customer Kyocera have recently been carried out to a leading asset management company and a well-known national supermarket chain. In both cases, the projects were problem free, thanks to careful planning between their logistics team and Relay. Each job was the final stage in a rationalisation of equipment advised by Kyocera for both customers and brought to successful conclusion with Relay’s support.

The asset management company originally had 150 devices spread between two sites, most at their City of London office with some also at their Swindon branch. Kyocera assessed that this customer was spending too much on printing infrastructure and advised them to consolidate down to 30 machines – 17 multi-functional colour and mono copiers and a range of VIP printers and executive desktop printers.  Deliveries took place to both the company’s offices following site surveys and planning.

Engineers were on site to configure the equipment. The City office proved the most complex, with delivery taking place in the early morning to avoid the commuter rush hour and involving equipment installations over 6 floors.

The Deeside based supermarket also had 150 devices but this time on a single site. Downsizing advice from Kyocera reduced this number to 50, mostly mono multi-functional photocopiers plus smaller personal colour printers, delivered throughout the offices and to the print room. This project involved Relay at different stages: from the hardware delivery to testing and removal and disposal of old equipment.

Ian Birch, Project Manager of Kyocera Mita UK Ltd, said: “I know Relay’s operation well from working with them on previous projects. Large-scale deliveries like this are second nature to them. Their service was excellent and I have had good feedback from both customers.”
