There are anniversaries this year for both Relay as a company and for our Warrington depot in
particular.
Now in its 35th year, Relay has made extraordinary progress since the company was started by David Reid in 1975 with a single truck working out of his domestic garage. The family connection continues through his son Hugh, MD of the company having worked his way up through the business and gained a close working knowledge of all its operations. The friendly and committed personality of Relay remains, but the resources and logistics technology we can now offer to customers has changed beyond recognition from those early days - we now employ 135 people and provide a nationwide service from three depots.
The advances in the facilities and expertise we can offer are well demonstrated by our Warrington depot, established exactly 15 years ago this May. Close to the M6 between Liverpool and Manchester, the depot is a vital part of Relay’s UK network and is very experienced in meeting the tight deadlines required by customers in the industrial heartlands of the North, the Midlands and North Wales.
These anniversaries make this a time both to look back and look forward. We can be proud of the progress made so far, which makes us determined to build on the services and support we can offer our customers into the future.
