Items up to 60Kg in weight require a 2-man lift, with anti-static bubblewrap and cage to roll the equipment safely and undamaged onto the truck. On arrival at a consignment's destination, technical equipment handling of heavier items of say 0.5 to 1 tonnes may require stair walking and tilting equipment, with spreader plates sometimes necessary to extend weight over floor surface areas.
Our staff are trained to deal with issues such as these during the collection of technical equipment. They are equipped to analyse the situation presented to them and use the correct equipment required to get the job done safely and efficiently.
Relay also operates a nightly trunking service between our nationwide operating centres, which offer leading edge facilities for specialist equipment storage. Trunk vehicles are equipped to the same specification as the daily delivery vehicles. This service is reliable and fast e.g. Relay’s rapid trunking system can enable us to collect a consignment from London Heathrow airport at 16:30 on day 1 for delivery to Glasgow at 09:00 day 2.
