Relay undertakes many installations every year, from large scale projects to single item deliveries. Through years of hands-on experience, we have developed the essential capabilities for meeting the complexities and challenges of major assignments.

 

The range of high value and fragile equipment Relay regularly collects, delivers, transports and installs is incredibly wide and varied and requires specialist knowledge and handling skills in order to eliminate the possibilities of damage. The technical installation process includes:

Handling

Items up to 60Kg in weight require a 2-man lift, with anti-static bubblewrap and cage to roll the equipment safely and undamaged onto the truck. Heavier items of say 0.5 to 1 tonnes may also require stair walking and tilting equipment, with spreader plates sometimes necessary to extend weight over floor surface areas.

While most new data centres are purpose built with easy access, special equipment may also be required due to raised flooring which accommodates cables underneath.

Transit

IT relocation and data centre relocation make full use of the high level of protection that Relay provides for high value vulnerable assets in transit. Our vehicles include air-ride suspension, four levels of load-lock, failsafe double strapping and blankets for added security and warmth.

Heating in the load compartment ensures that ambient temperature is maintained, which is especially important during the winter months to maintain optimum conditions for goods on board. We at Relay believe that we were the first transport and logistics company to demand this temperature control specification for all new vehicles!

Our involvement

Our involvement does not stop with the consignment delivery. Relay’s continued support includes our crews working on their own or hand in hand with the end-user’s engineering team to:
